Waiuku Primary School has approximately 400 students including international students from China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Tahiti and offers students a true New Zealand experience. Set in safe and beautiful natural surroundings, Waiuku is a country town in the South Auckland/North Waikato Region hosting about 10,000 people. It is only 60km from the Auckland city centre and 20 minutes by car to the next larger town, Pukekohe. Waiuku is famous for its wild West Coast black sand beaches for surfing, horse riding and paragliding.
For students who would like a farm experience, we have farm homestay families available (transport to school would be with the homestay family by car). Waiuku also has many amenities such as a large supermarket, local Theatre, cafés, restaurants, squash club, swimming pool, golf course, fitness centres, beaches, vintage railway and local parks.
Waiuku Primary School provides students with a safe and multicultural environment for students to learn and grow to achieve their potential. Apart from the English, Mathematics and Science subjects, our school offers many other options:
ESOL, Choir, Art, Drama, Maori, Technology, Cooking, etc.
A variety of sporting activities are also available after school: karate, softball, hockey, rock climbing, soccer, rugby, basketball, netball, etc.
For students who enjoy music, we have a strong Music Department which offers options to sing in a choir, play drums, piano or guitar.
